![]() It is an attention that I can appreciate. The Sublime Merge for individuals is $99 (USD) with three years of update for businesses $75/user/year. Nowadays, the yearly subscription model is widely popular, and it is understandable in some cases like if you are a business. For me, after the other application, this was a shock. It uses the real Git on your device and does this well on Windows too. You can do your task in a blink, search through your commits, reverse your last commit, and so on. If you forgot to exclude the node_modules folder with 10000+ files this GUI doesn’t make a problem about it. The performance is the point where this client is unbeatable. The interface is something that won’t frighten away anybody.Ī great feature that you can always see the sent command when you do something. ![]() As in Text, we can navigate just from the keyboard. If you are a subscribed user, you can switch to a dark theme. If you code in Text, you will now always see what you have to commit, and you can easily open the Sublime Merge. The Merge and Text are integrated well with each other.įor the full feature list, please visit the official website. I used Visual Studio for a long time, but currently, I use Sublime again. It was released back in last year (2018) from nowhere.įor me, Sublime Text is the ultimate coding IDE. The Sublime Merge is the same just in a version control application. I’m sure that you know Sublime Text, this was the editor that changed the game for a lot of us. If you want to choose yourself the best, I think you should try at least two or three. I don’t wish to make a compersion because every need differs. Both of them has its features and quirks. It has a lot of integration and useful tool which makes your life easier. Although it was built as a native app, sometimes you can’t feel it. The biggest bottleneck for me was the performance. Today the app is way better than it was and run quite well. I liked it, but I’m sure that it is a better application on mac. The cycle of updates is way too slow especially considering the licenses aren't even perpetual.Another interesting GUI tool is Prepros, which helps you compile your Sass, JS files, and more. I know that software doesn't come cheap and is usually worth the cost but I can't bring myself to pay such an exorbitant amount for a client that doesn't freely allow me to customise the flags for the git commands it executes or even lets me create custom commands. I found fork soon after, bought myself a licence when they opened up pricing have never looked back Then again I was disappointed by the severe lack of updates to address bugs and oddities, lack of features and the pricing ($99) put me off completely. Then they came out with Merge and again I gave it a try and thought I'd found my replacement for command line git. ![]() I was severely disappointed to learn that the git integration was heavily lacking in features (I don't remember now but I think it doesn't display the git status in the file tree or something like that) and a lot of the major plugin developers had all ditched sublime and were developing for vscode because apparently the APIs they have exposed are heavily limited Over time I felt that maybe I should give sublime a second chance and decided to replicate my vscode setup right after Sublime Text had the git integration update. Then came Atom which was a huge leap in features and then vscode which was fast enough for my coding needs and there was no way I could resist just how packed with features they were and I switched. Sure it was lacking in some areas but there were always plugins that somehow filled the gaps and made me productive This will come off as extremely harsh but I have completely written off sublime projects because of the ridiculous pricing and the lack of real updates to their applications Are you interested in promoting your own content?
